DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (April 7, 2014) – Grundfos has appointed Dieter Sauer as president and general manager of its Water Utility business, which is headquartered in Aurora, Ill. In this position, Sauer will oversee and direct all operations in Grundfos’ Water Utility division including the company’s newly opened service center.

Duncan Cooper, regional managing director for Grundfos North America, said “Dieter brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industrial, wastewater and municipal water management sector. His strong leadership skills and his significant achievements in both sales and production areas complement our existing strategies and plans."

Sauer has more than 20 years of pump experience and most recently served as president of Pulsafeeder Inc., a manufacturer of chemical metering pumps for municipal water and wastewater, oil and gas and industrial markets where he led strategic and operating planning processes for sales, marketing, R&D, operations, finance, human resources, quality control and administrative affairs.

“I look forward to working with our team in Aurora to achieve our ambitious goal of doubling regional revenues to $1 billion,” Sauer said. “We will continue to expand our business and support our partners through innovative techniques and service.”

Grundfos’ operations in Aurora include office, warehouse and manufacturing facilities devoted exclusively to product development, factory production, and servicing and distribution of pumps and other equipment for the municipal wastewater treatment market throughout North America and beyond. Grundfos opened a new Service Center in November 2013 which provides consultative assistance to customers throughout a product’s lifecycle and includes guidance on product selection, delivery and installation, service during the operational cycle and end-of-life replacement.

Formerly Yeomans Chicago Corporation (YCC), the company was acquired by Grundfos North America in December 2008. YCC itself consisted of a collection of venerable, Chicago-based pump companies whose roots go back a century or more that include Morris Pumps (founded in 1864), Yeomans Pumps (1898) and Chicago Pump (1909).

Sauer graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Penn., with a bachelor of science in Business Administration. He will relocate to the Chicagoland area with his wife and their children.

Grundfos provides pump solutions and water technology, specializing in circulator pumps for heating and air conditioning as well as centrifugal pumps for industrial applications, fire protection, water supply, wastewater and water treatment.
