DENVER (June 5, 2014) – CH2M HILL announced that Charles Whisman has joined the firm as Vice President and U.S. Oil and Gas Operations Manager for the Environment and Nuclear Market.
Mr. Whisman has more than 20 years of experience in leading environmental, engineering and energy projects for oil and gas, energy, industrial, and government clients. In Whisman’s new role, he will be responsible for helping CH2M HILL’s oil and gas team grow business and expand service offerings for existing and new clients.
“We’re excited to add someone with Chuck’s experience helping the oil and gas industry enhance their environmental programs,” said Gerald Vogt, CH2M HILL’s Commercial Sector Global Managing Director for environmental services. “Chuck is a recognized expert in in-situ remediation, including feasibility testing, design, installation, operation and optimization management to aggressively remediate soil and groundwater.”
Prior to joining CH2M HILL, Whisman was chief technical officer and business strategy manager at Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) where he provided client and service strategies across GES’s business sectors in engineering and procurement, government, industrial, and pipelines and terminals. Additionally, Mr. Whisman led GES’s engineering and remediation programs, as well as the firm’s research and development initiatives (including patents and technologies advanced oxidation and reductive techniques). He also led the development of GES’s US Shale business sector growth, including significant growth in unconventional shale plays such as the Marcellus Shale and Utica Shale regions.
Mr. Whisman is a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Florida and received a bachelor of science degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1994. He has presented at more than 75 technical and regulatory conferences and professional organizations since 2001 on topics that typically involved environmental remediation and system optimization, oil and gas exploration and production, research and development and sustainability.
