HIGHLAND, Ill. (July 1, 2014) – Power management company Eaton is helping give back to the community by providing a $5,000 sponsorship to Make-A-Wish Illinois on behalf of its B-Line business. Not only will the donation be used to help facilitate a local 5K run/walk fundraiser in the southern Illinois region, it will also serve as a large portion of the funds needed to support a wish for a local child battling a life-threatening medical condition. Eaton supports the organization’s mission of granting the wish of every eligible child to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

“For the past six years, we have been able to witness first-hand the incredible way Make-A-Wish changes the lives of local children and families affected by life-changing medical conditions,” said Daniel Castillo, president, Eaton’s B-Line business. “With this donation, we’re able to once again support this worthwhile organization that continues to do great things in and around our community for these deserving and very brave kids.”

As a direct result of the donation, local wish kid, Anne, will have the opportunity to experience the wish of a family trip to Hawaii. She and her family will get to enjoy a much needed break from the rigors of home while basking in the sun and enjoying each other’s company.

“The generous and enthusiastic support of Eaton’s B-Line business is a wonderful example of the community coming together to provide our wish children with hope, strength and joy at a time they need it most,” said Stephanie Springs, chief executive officer, Make-A-Wish Illinois.

In addition to its $5,000 donation, Eaton’s B-Line business also supports the organization through its ongoing fundraiser, Jeans for Wishes. The campaign, held each year in March, allows employees to make a donation in order to wear jeans to work. This year alone the campaign raised approximately $2,500.

Beyond the company’s monetary support, members of Eaton’s B-Line business formed a team to walk in the 8th Annual Walk for Wishes, a 5K run and 1-mile walk held on May 17, 2014, at Korte Stadium on the campus of Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.

Eaton’s B-Line business offers a broad range of support systems, seismic bracing solutions, electrical enclosures and wireways designed to save time and lower total installed cost.

Make-A-Wish Illinois will grant more than 700 wishes to children across the state this year. Wishes are granted to children with life-threatening medical conditions such as cancer, organ transplants, genetic diseases and many more. Wishes can be an important part of the treatment process, empowering children to make decisions and providing strength to comply with medical treatments.
