BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, USA (July 2, 2014) – Pumps & Systems, the leading magazine for pump users worldwide for more than 20 years, expands its international coverage of powerful technical pumping information to the Middle East/North Africa region.

The premier issue of Pumps & Systems MENA, an international print magazine from the publisher of Pumps & Systems, will launch in early October this year. It also will be distributed at the Pumps & Systems booth Nov. 10, 2014, at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC), the region’s leading conference for oil and gas professionals.

“With an extraordinary amount of construction and tourism growth in metropolitan cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha, the pumping market in the MENA region has exploded in the past decade,” said Pumps & Systems Editor Michelle Segrest. “This growth is happening rapidly, which results in many opportunities for large pumping projects. Our readers and advertisers continue to tell us of pumping activity in this region, and no other publications cover pumping reliability, maintenance and optimization in each issue. We identified an important need for this information, so expanding to the MENA region is a natural fit for Pumps & Systems.”

The magazine is an exciting addition to the 20-year-old Pumps & Systems brand for its publisher, Cahaba Media Group (CMG).

“Creating this new print magazine specifically for the MENA region is the next logical step in building on the Pumps & Systems global brand,” said CMG President Wally Evans, publisher of Pumps & Systems, Upstream Pumping Solutions and, now, Pumps & Systems MENA. “It also makes sense to debut the publication at ADIPEC, which is the largest technical conference for the oil and gas industry in the GCC.”

Pumps & Systems MENA will publish bimonthly in 2015 following the October 2014 launch, and will cover case studies and technical information in the following industries:

  • Oil & gas (upstream and downstream)
  • Water & wastewater
  • Power generation
  • Food & beverage processing
  • Building services
  • Chemical, petrochemical and refinery

The regular editorial coverage will also include strategic and insightful market data from the respected global consultancy firm, Frost & Sullivan.

Loyal subscribers in almost 140 countries currently receive the print and digital editions of Pumps & Systems. The magazine is delivered to more than 40,000 BPA-audited subscribers. The launch of Pumps & Systems MENA will provide a printed version of the world’s leading authority on pumping technology to subscribers in the GCC countries. The circulation for Pumps & Systems MENA will initially be approximately 15,000 subscribers.

The magazine will be supported digitally with a website, www.pump-zone.com/mena and a twice-a-month e-newsletter, Pump Users Digest MENA. Subscribe to the newsletter and magazine at www.pump-zone.com/mena.

“We are receiving tremendous positive support for Pumps & Systems MENA,” Segrest said. “The editorial coverage we have compiled for the premier issue is detailed, region-specific, comprehensive and includes interesting problem-solving case studies from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, India and other surrounding areas.”

Powerful technical information and real-world application articles are at the core of the success of Pumps & Systems. This will continue to be the model for Pumps & Systems MENA, Segrest said.

“The reason our Pumps & Systems readers have been so loyal for more than 20 years is because we offer insightful, expert editorial that helps pump users solve problems. We have an interactive audience. They tell us about their daily concerns, and we pay attention to their needs. We plan to continue this effective editorial mission in Pumps & Systems MENA. ”

The Pumps & Systems MENA editorial team is gathering a panel of experts to consult with technical issues and regional market and industry trends. The growing Editorial Advisory Board so far includes:

In addition to technical pumping information and case studies, Pumps & Systems MENA will also cover ancillary equipment including motors and drives, instrumentation, seals, bearings, valves, compressors, engines and every variety of pumps used in the six target industries. It will also provide relevant, regional news coverage and report on new products.
