Pumping foamy liquid? 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I have an aplication on a printing press, where the viscous ink tends to become foamy. There is a double diaphragm Yamada pump, on a closed loop system. The reservoir tank is only about 8 gallons, plus about 4 in the hoses. What ever is not used on the press, is returned back to the pot. The ink that returns picks up air and returns it to the pot. The air picked up is inherent of the process, and i cannot stop it.
What methood can I use, to separate the bubles/foam from the liquid?

Hi faustor ,

Before I become a pump engineer I was once a QA supervisor on a corrugated printing co.

I guess the small diaphragm pump is running fine. Is it?

Printing system has always has ink return and usually became too vicous and bubbly.

I have asked my co worker before for a some additives on ink that may neutralize the bubbles and foamy of the ink. Im sure I will get a reply later.
