Pump users are the lifeblood of our magazine, and we want to recognize their hard work and creativity. By combining knowledge and experience with old and new technology, pump users have made many advancements and improvements in the field. The Pumps & Systems editorial team, along with the help of its Editorial Advisory Board, recognizes the achievements of pump users with its Success Story of the Year Award.

A pump success story is a positive account of a pump or pumping system improvement that saves time and/or money for the organization through improved process efficiency or reliability. Some examples of a pump success story include improving a pump's failure rate, improving the failure rate of a sealing device, reducing energy costs by installing a VFD or other equipment, reducing vibration or pulsation levels on a pump or improving pump controls.
The inaugural Success Story of the Year Award in 2009 went to International Paper (Courtland, Ala.), who used root cause failure analysis to determine why a white water pump on a paper machine was showing high vibration levels since it was installed in the late 1970s. The 2009 finalists also recognized for their superior solutions in the field were Hitachi America Ltd. (Tarrytown, N.Y.), Corrosion Fluid Products Corp. (Farmington Hills, Mich.) and the Gorman Rupp Company (Mansfield, Ohio).

We are now accepting entries for the 2010 Success Story of the Year Award. Entries can include indivi

dual or team accomplishments and must include statistical proof of the success (including the economic data is optional). The winner and finalists will be featured in our July 2010 issue.
