Sponsored by Simerics, Inc., Mechanical Solutions, Inc., and CFturbo

Simerics, Inc. Mechanical Solutions, Inc. CFTurbo

This webinar will demonstrate the use of CFturbo and PumpLinx for the complete CAE design and testing of pumps. With a seamless link between CFturbo and PumpLinx, the two packages enable a complete virtual design and testing process. The demonstration includes pump requirements such as size, efficiency, flow rates and head, and uses CFturbo to create a virtual prototype. A full 3D CFD model will be run in real-time. Finally, decision-enabling engineering output and cavitation damage prediction will be presented. Pump professionals of all kinds are encouraged to attend the Webinar, sponsored by Simerics, CFturbo and Mechanical Solutions, Inc.

Integrated CAE Pump Design and Testing with CFturbo & PumpLinx will begin with pump requirements such as size, efficiency, flow-rates, and head, and use CFturbo to create a virtual prototype. PumpLinx will then be directly launched from CFturbo to automatically create a full 3D CFD model to be run in real-time.

Finally, decision-enabling engineering output will be presented, including: flow, pressure, and aeration with cavitation.  Cavitation damage prediction and off design conditions will also be discussed.

The event will include a live question-and-answer segment.

About The Facilitators

Dr. Sam Lowry, president of Simerics, Inc.Dr. Sam Lowry is president of Simerics, Inc., in Huntsville, Ala. He received an A.B. in Engineering and Applied Physics from Harvard College, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from the University of Tennessee Space Institute. Dr. Lowry's prior work experience includes more than 10 years at CFD Research Corporation, concluding as director of advanced technology, and five years as a NASA engineer in the Turbomachinery Branch at the Marshall Space Flight Center.

Dr. Edward Bennett, director of Fluids Engineering for Mechanical solutionsDr. Edward Bennett is director of Fluids Engineering for Mechanical Solutions, Inc. He has been involved with Fluid Dynamics and the aero/hydrodynamic design of turbomachinery for 25 years.  Initially, Dr. Bennett served as a steam turbine and axial fan design engineer for Coppus Murray, where he designed steam turbine stages for a wide variety of sizes and services, as well as a series of ventilator fans.  He subsequently moved to CONMEC (now a division of GE Oil and Gas) where he designed multiple steam turbines, gas expanders, and centrifugal compressor stages.  He was also employed at Concepts NREC where he led the development of specialized software for turbomachinery CFD analysis and designed a variety of compressors and turbines. In 1995, Dr. Bennett founded ASC Turbo, a design house that combined the CFD software from Advanced Scientific Computing and specialized design software.  During this time, he worked on the development of BladeGen, a 3D turbomachinery blade geometry kernel (that is now part of the ANSYS software suite). Today, Dr. Bennett serves as Director of Fluids Engineering for Mechanical Solutions, Inc. where he oversees fluid dynamic design and analysis.
