KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 13, 2012) - The Kansas City Royals announced a partnership making Grundfos the “Official Pump and Pump Systems Provider of the Royals.”

Grundfos, a pump systems provider, has its world headquarters in Bjerringbro, Denmark, and its U.S. headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. The partnership between the Royals and Grundfos is focused on water use and efficiency, both inside and outside of Kauffman Stadium.

As a first step in the partnership, the Royals and Grundfos are currently undergoing an audit of the signature Kauffman Stadium fountains.  Grundfos will then install components from its state-of-the-art pump systems to create increased efficiencies in water and power use.  Grundfos signage will be prominently placed in the stadium fountains in left field in advance of the 2012 season.

“Our new partnership with Grundfos is another step in making Kauffman Stadium one of the most environmentally-friendly facilities in sports,” said Michael Bucek, Royals Vice President.  “We are excited to bring a great local company on board and benefit from the latest technologies in water efficiency.”

As part of its continued mission to drive awareness and provide clean water systems around the world, the Royals and Grundfos will jointly host the first annual Walk for Water at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday, June 16.  More details on this event will be released at a later date.

Grundfos will also sponsor Water Awareness Night on Monday, June 25 when the Royals host the Tampa Bay Rays at 7:10 p.m. The first 10,000 fans that event will receive a re-usable water bottle courtesy of Grundfos.

"The Royals, baseball and Grundfos are the perfect blend," says Terry Teach, Grundfos Vice President. "The sport is universally known and is characterized by dedication, enthusiasm and hard work. Those characteristics in baseball run parallel to the Grundfos company values: Be Responsible - Think Ahead - Innovate. Responsible players help promote fair play; foresight makes them able to defeat their opponents; and innovative drive gets them to the top," he explains. "This sponsorship holds a lot of meaning for us because Grundfos Pumps can identify with that. We're very proud to be aligned with the Royals and the great game of baseball."
