ABU DHABI, UAE (28 October 2014)—Grundfos Gulf Distribution held an opening ceremony on Oct. 15 of its new Abu Dhabi branch office at 202A Incubator Building (also called Courtyard Building) in Masdar City under the leadership of Greater Middle East Managing Director Henning Sandager.

The formal opening and ribbon-cutting was executed by HE Poul O.G. Hoiness, Danish ambassador to UAE, along with Carlo Prola, Grundfos senior vice president-regional managing director, and Christopher Sorensen, head of corporate development and strategic partnerships at Masdar City.

Other guests who attended the opening ceremony were Stephen Severance, manager strategy and innovation at Masdar City; Claus Borup, director of financial planning and analysis for Sales Business Controlling, Grundfos; and the top management from customers M.A.H.Y Khoory, Super Quality and UEG.

“We are happy to have this new branch office in Masdar City,” Sandager said. “Masdar is well known for renewable energy and energy conservation projects in the Middle East. We at Grundfos also work towards the same goal of energy saving through our pumping systems. We hope our association with Masdar will help in future business.”

“I am happy that Grundfos have started their operation in Masdar and I am part of the ceremony,” Hoiness said. “I feel it’s a good beginning after the MOU signing between the Danish government and Masdar, where Grundfos was one of the few companies who were part of the agreement.”

Added Severance: “We are happy to have Grundfos inside Masdar City as its one of the global leaders in pumping systems. I am happy to inform that all the main pumps in the existing Masdar Institute Buildings are Grundfos. We are also proud to have Grundfos Solar pumping system – fountain inside the Masdar City, which showcases the Grundfos capability on renewable energy sector. We hope to have more mutually beneficial projects in future years to come.”
