Chicago, IL – A group of innovative British water technology companies will showcase cutting edge water and wastewater products and services at the UK Pavilion in Chicago from October 2-4 at WEFTEC 2017, one of the largest conferences and exhibitions focused on water quality education and business opportunities.

“The UK is home to a highly successful water industry – and one that is ready to respond to global opportunities,” said Michael Rosenfeld, vice consul – senior advisor for energy, environment & infrastructure with the UK’s Department for International Trade, which organized the UK Pavilion.

“Offering cutting edge products and technologies as well as internationally renowned consultancy, the UK’s adaptable and innovative solutions can help to address any water-related challenge, whatever it may be in the world,” he added.

Served by over 500 companies, employing nearly 80,000 people, the UK’s water and wastewater sector generates revenue of approximately £8 billion ($10.25 billion) annually, £3 billion ($3.25 billion) of it generated internationally.

The UK water industry draws on decades of experience in developing integrated water resource management solutions and techniques. Its 20 water utilities invest nearly £6 billion ($7.5 billion) in assets each year and more than £5.25 billion ($6.75 billion) in services. Approximately 400 specialist engineering consultancies generate revenues of £2 billion ($2.6 billion) annually.

British products, services and technologies to be showcased at the UK Pavilion include:

  • Low-cost, chemical-free wastewater treatment
  • Wastewater re-use/recycling for industrial
  • High performance sensors for environmental monitoring
  • Biogas recovery and storage solutions for renewable energy generation
  • Water resiliency for a more sustainable future

Companies exhibiting at the UK Pavilion include:

  • Arup Group Limited
  • Biodome Gas Holders
  • Chelsea Technologies Group Ltd.
  • NVP Energy
  • SEAMS

One of the companies exhibiting on the UK Pavilion has developed a unique, energy positive, carbon-neutral wastewater treatment technology that treats low strength wastewater while producing a high-quality, biogas by-product that is 100 percent available for reuse on site. NVP Energy’s highly efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment solution has full-scale, commercial facilities operating in the food and drink sector as well as municipal public utilities, according to Michael Murray, managing director of the company in West Maling, Kent UK.

“We are keen to establish strategic partnerships across the USA to expand our business,” Murray said. “WEFTEC 2017 is the ideal conference and exhibition, where we expect to meet potential new clients and partners. Our solution can be integrated easily with existing infrastructure or can be deployed as part of a new build wastewater treatment plan to meet the needs of almost any site.”

Representatives from the delegation of UK companies will participate in a panel presentation at WEFTEC’s Global Center on Tuesday, October 2 at 2:00 pm. The panel will cover UK innovation in Water and Wastewater Treatment, Resiliency, Reuse, Recycling and Energy Recovery.

Following the panel presentation, the UK’s Department for International Trade will host a networking event featuring British beer and snacks at the UK Pavilion (booth #7954) from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. WEFTEC attendees are invited to learn more about the UK’s water industry, meet the UK companies and enjoy fine British hospitality.
