CAMDEN, N.J. – With great sadness, ResinTech, Inc. announced the passing of its Technical Director, Peter S. Meyers, at the age of 68.

A legendary scientist in the world of ion exchange technology, Mr. Meyers was born in October of 1953 and spent his early life in southern California. He studied chemistry at the University of California at Santa Cruz and began working shortly afterward for L*A Water Treatment Company in City of Industry, CA. Over the next two decades, Meyers became intimately involved with engineering, process design, field installation, start-up and troubleshooting industrial water treatment systems around the world.

In 1994, ResinTech founder, Michael Gottlieb, approached Meyers about joining the company as its technical director, a position he held for the rest of his life. “Peter brought to us a wealth of practical application experience as well as a deep theoretical understanding of water chemistry; a rare combination we may never see again,” Gottlieb said.

Over nearly 50 years in water treatment, Meyers became one of the industry’s most prolific technical writers and a highly sought-after presenter, educator and session leader. He wrote scores of articles for virtually every industry trade publication. He spoke over a hundred times at conferences and trade shows, including the International Water Conference, the Water Quality Association, Aqua Tech, the Association of Water Technologies and countless other regional organizations servicing the water purification market. His expertise covered a wide range of ion exchange topics, from demineralization, condensate polishing and water softening to industrial process design and operation. Mr. Meyers’ name also appears on five U.S. Patents related to ion exchange technology, most notably “Method of making and using modified anion exchange materials with metal inside the materials.”

ResinTech CEO Jeffrey Gottlieb said, “I know I speak for my brother, Larry, and everyone at ResinTech when I say we feel fortunate to have worked with Peter. He was a great technical asset to our customers and an amazing teacher who motivated us to learn more about ion exchange and water purification. But more than that, Peter was a friend. He was a part of our family, and we will miss him immensely.”

An avid traveler and outdoors enthusiast, Mr. Meyers was an accomplished hiker, swimmer and rock climber who loved camping trips and nature. A superb photographer, Peter enjoyed capturing shots of the natural terrain during his travels. He and his wife, Donna, recently fulfilled his lifelong dream of traveling to Nepal to visit Kathmandu and Mount Everest Base Camp.

ResinTech has set up a memorial fund for anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of Mr. Meyers. The proceeds of the fund will benefit the Water Quality Research Foundation (WQRF) and the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. To donate, visit https://jcfsnj.givingfuel.com/peter-s-meyers-memorial-fund
