Networking in Asia, North America and Europe

The Smart Water Networks Forum (SWAN) is sponsoring Smart Water Pavilions at events around the world. Upcoming forums are in China (May 31-June 2, 2018), Mexico (Sept. 4-6, 2018), and Amsterdam (Nov. 5-8, 2019), with more to be added. “Our interest and focus is on startups and institutions leveraging new technologies and digitalization within the water sector,” says SWAN’s Annette Bos. In its eighth year, SWAN, which is based in the United Kingdom, is a nonprofit global hub for the smart water sector. It brings together key players in the water sector to collaborate and share knowledge while offering access to the latest research, global networking opportunities, and the ability to proactively influence the future of the water industry.

SWAN’s annual conference will be May 21-22 in Barcelona, Spain, and will include opportunities to learn more about smart water and wastewater solutions. This year’s agenda includes keynote speeches by Carlos Campos, chief operating officer of SUEZ Advanced Solutions, who will present “Overcoming the Barriers to Smart Water Adoption; Beverly Rider, SVP & chief operating officer of Hitachi who will speak on “Riding the Communication Wave of the Future;” and more. SWAN describes a “Smart Water Network” as being a “collection of data-driven components helping to operate the data-less physical layer of pipes, pumps, reservoirs and valves.” Since water utilities are starting to use more smart components, SWAN says “it’s up to us to make the most out of them, by turning the discrete elements into a cohesive ‘overlay network.’” Learn more at www.swan-forum.com.
