PISCATAWAY, N.J. - John Malinowski, senior manager of industry affairs (retired from Baldor Electric Company), of Fort Smith, Arkansas, USA has been named an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Fellow. He is being recognized for contributions to motor efficiency manufacturing regulations and standards.

Malinowski is on the Pumps & Systems magazine editorial advisory board.

ZURICH -- ABB last week completed its acquisition of Bernecker + Rainer Industrie-Elektronik GmbH, Austria-based independent provider focused on product- and software-based, open-architecture solutions for machine and factory automation worldwide.

ABB first announced its acquisition plans in April 2017. The transaction was financed in cash.

ZURICH, Switzerland -- ABB last week officially opened its new Canada headquarters, which will consolidate 700 employees in a $90 million Montreal facility.

ABB has dubbed the headquarters "Campus Montreal", which will house R&D, manufacturing, assembly and testing for ABB's energy value chain. The facility will also house the hundreds of employees previously spread across six locations in the area.

ZURICH, Switzerland (April 4, 2017) -- ABB on Tuesday announced the acquisition of Bernecker + Rainer Industrie-Elektronik GmbH, an Austria-based independent provider focused on product- and software-based, open-architecture solutions for machine and factory automation worldwide.

A purchase price was not disclosed, but the deal is expected to close by the end of summer 2017.

WINTERTHUR, Switzerland (March 23, 2017)—Sulzer has been chosen to provide the U.K. market with maintenance and repair services for ABB medium- and high-voltage motors and generators.

The agreement provides ABB customers with direct access to the specialist skills and extensive facilities of Sulzer’s service centers in Birmingham and Falkirk, according to a statement from Sulzer.

HOUSTON (March 14, 2017)—ABB unveiled its latest electrical innovations for the U.S. market, resulting from research and development, and operational investments of more than $60 million, according to a statement from the company.

The investments for power distribution and protection, and residential circuit protection, complete ABB's portfolio extending its broad range of installation products from Thomas & Betts, the business ABB acquired in 2012, the company said.
